X-X-XCX. The number one angel. It’s Charli baby! On Saturday October 12th Charli brought her nationwide tour to the House of Blues Chicago. The tour is supported by her newest & highly acclaimed self-titled album, which recently just turned one month old.

The crowd grew in anticipation as the night went on, but before Charli took the stage there were two opening performers. Dorian Electra, an artist featured on Charli’s Pop 2 mixtape, started off the show on Saturday night. Dorian is a non binary artist with a discography that could best possibly be described as experimental pop. Their set was filled with energy and excitement which the crowd responded to perfectly. Up next was Allie X. Although Allie has never officially collaborated with Charli their fanbases are pretty intertwined which made sense when majority of the audience was singing along throughout her entire set from start to finish.

Soon enough fog started to fill the room and the lights dimmed one more time in preparation for Charli’s entrance. To welcome her on stage there was a monologue in order to get the crowd hyped saying it was going to be the best night of their lives. “get ready to rave, get ready to party, get ready to vroom vroom with your number #1 angel, the motherfucking savior of pop music..I’m gonna take you to the next level” Charli stated before thanking all of her collaborators and finally stepping on stage.

Fans went wild as soon as her silhouette appeared in the lights. She started things off with two songs from the newest album “Next Level Charli” & “Click.” Those two being very high energy songs, quickly set the bar high for the rest of the night. With a quick outfit change Charli came back to the stage in custom Maison the Faux performing an ultimate fan favorite, “Vroom Vroom.”

Following up with a few more songs from her latest release like “Gone” and “White Mercedes” the energy was still kept pretty high. To top that, Charli’s next song was “Shake It.” Every night on tour Charli invites people from all different walks of life to come dance and perform with her on stage. For Chicago we were introduced to Milwaukee Legend Michael and The Unfriendly Black Hotties.

With only a few songs left Charli thanks the crowd for being so lively and engaged and starts to reminisce on a time where she couldn’t possibly imagine having a sold out show full of screaming fans. She closes out the show with some of her most notable tracks, “Unlock It'“ Icona Pop’s “I Love It'“ and “Boys.” Her final song and a great way to finish off the set was “1999.” During the last chorus, Charli encouraged everyone to interact with their neighbors and even get on top of each other’s shoulders, which the crowd definitely responded to.

Overall Charli LIVE was more than a concert, it was a big party celebrating pop music and experimental pop music. It’s something special about the way she approaches pop music in her songs and it’s even more special to see how much the fans respond to it.
